Thursday, July 13
It’s time again for a little update, since quite a lot of things have happened here in the last couple of days. Let’s start with Thursday: After we had come back from the gym, we decided to stay in the house, since it was still so humid outside. Here’s a picture I took of Finn:

Red Bank ("little" car accident, police,...)

Oh yeah, in the evening Elisabeth and I decided to go to Red Bank, but it was a long, long way to get there (and the most adventurous in the convertible ever… : ) ) Just some of the things that happened to us: --> thought that we had taken wrong way and wanted to return; by reversing, I crashed against the sidewalk , so that I thought that something had happened to the car, since some liquid was dripping out; we got a bit worried and asked some passersby for help; said that it was just the air conditioning liquid -- were very relieved to hear that; however, in order to be really sure that everything was okay with the car, we stopped at a gas station; guy there also confirmed that the liquid was just the AC liquid --> were stopped by police!!! Police car had followed us on the highway (with siren and blue/ red lights!!!), but I didn’t stop immediately, so the siren got even louder; finally, I pulled the car over to the shoulder; Elis and I were a bit worried, as you can imagine; police man came to my car; shone flashlight right into my face, demanded my papers (luckily, I had all of them with me!) and asked me questions; looked at the front of the car; looked really strict and serious; however, I tried to smile at him, but his mien didn’t get friendlier; told me that I hadn’t had my lights on (although I had thought that they had been on…); also told me that my car sticker was expired; after lots of questions (“Where do you come from?”… Why are you here?... Who is the owner of this car?…), he finally let us drive on --> still shocked, we arrived (after about 80 minutes) in Red Bank [new record… usually you only need about 20 minutes from Tinton Falls to Red Bank!!!] Red Bank: went to “jazz festival” -- thought that it would be really nice and maybe like a festival in Austria, with lots of young people, drinks and all that stuff; but it was not at all like that; this “jazz festival” turned out to be like a family gathering… families had brought their blankets and picnic chairs and watched the various performances; although the festival met not our expectations, it was nice to just sit in the grass and listen to the songs; but it ended quite early --> at 10 pm!! So we had to look for something else; the only problem was that we are only 20 (and not 21!), so we couldn’t get into any bars or clubs (except into one disco, but we didn’t want to go there, since the entrance fee would have been $15 and there were only people who looked really young…); we tried to get into one Irish pub, but do you know what the bouncer said when we asked him if there was any chance of us getting into the pub?? He told us: “You can come with your parents!” I was inwardly laughing, since it just sounded so funny to me -- there we were, both 20 years old and that bouncer tells us we should come with our parents?? : ) (by the way, we came to the conclusion that we should get fake IDs…) Well, although we didn’t have any chances to get into any of these clubs, we made the best out of our “girls night out”; we went into a diner and had some chicken wings… and that was our little trip to Red Bank! luckily, the way back home was not as hard as the way to Red Bank; I think we managed to get back to Tinton Falls in 30 minutes!! Isn’t that great? : ) Some pictures from Red Bank:

At the "jazz festival" The "diner" in which we ended up... Chicken wings with honey mustard sauce and ranch dressing

Actually, I also wanted to tell you something about Friday (when I went to the beach again with Conor and Riley) and yesterday, but it’s so late again, and I really should get going now; I’ll try to get back to you asap : )

Have a nice Sunday! (I definitely will, since we will go jet-skiing again; looking forward to it!!)

Love, Michaela
